Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray, and line the bottom with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. Prepare the Bananas:
In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork or potato masher until smooth. Overripe bananas with brown spots are perfect for this recipe as they are sweeter and more flavorful.

  3. Mix the Wet Ingredients:
Add the melted butter to the mashed bananas and stir to combine. Mix in the granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well incorporated.

  4. Combine the Dry Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can result in a dense loaf. If desired, fold in the chopped nuts or chocolate chips at this stage.

  5. Bake the Banana Bread:
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.

  6. Cool and Serve:
Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy plain or spread with butter, cream cheese, or your favorite jam.

Banana bread is a versatile and comforting treat that can be enjoyed in many ways. It’s perfect for using up overripe bananas and can be customized with various add-ins like nuts, chocolate chips, or dried fruits. The warm, inviting aroma of baking banana bread is sure to fill your home with comfort and joy.
